Daily Update--Sept.30/14


ELA--The students have their first IRP due this Wednesday, Oct.1. We have been talking about it and working on it all month.

Their September calendars are also due on Wednesday. We will be adding up their number of pages to see if they have reached their individual goals, as well as whether we have met our class goal.

We started Unit 2 in vocabulary and the page on synonyms and antonyms is due Wednesday.

Their bio-poems are due Thursday, Oct.2/14


Math-The POW #4 is due Friday. Students need to put aside time during the week to complete this work properly and accurately. 3.3 textbook questions on page 99/`100 #4 a and b, #5c, #6,7,10, 12 a in problem format, and #15 are due tomorrow.

Science--The Lab Journal of two questions from our lab today was due today.  We dissected grasshoppers today and will discuss the good copy of the lab report tomorrow.


Picture Day is on Friday. Packages with payment are due that day.

ELA--Students should be reading twenty minutes every day. The first IRP is due Wednesday, Oct.1. The students have the format and questions which they must follow.
The grammar worksheet on nouns is due Monday.
We are working on our creative writing assignment which is a bio-poem . It is due next Thursday, Oct.2. Some students have taken theirs home to work on over the weekend.

  Math--3.3 worksheet questions #1 to 8 are due for Monday.
 
Science--We still need more grasshoppers for our dissection next week. Place in vented plastic containers with some grass in them.

Science--I have asked the students to collect grasshoppers and crickets for our Science dissection class. Place in vented plastic containers with some grass in them. Microscope diagram quiz will be written on tomorrow. Review spelling as well. Students have blank diagrams to study with.

Our creative writing assignment in the form of a bio-poem should have its rough draft done.The good copy will be due by the end of the week or by early next week. We have not set a final due date as of yet.

Daily Update--Monday, Sept. 22/14

Happy Autumnal Equinox Day!
         
ELA--Students should be reading daily for 20 minutes and working towards their first IRP which is due October 1st.

  The first vocabulary test will be written tomorrow. Tuesday, Sept. 23. Hopefully students have been reviewing the definitions of the twenty words, their synonyms, antonyms, and how to use the words correctly in descriptive sentences. We have also been reviewing every day in class. We will also have spelling dictation before the test.

The first "Evidence of Learning" which is a drawing/visual representation of their chosen vocabulary word is due tomorrow. Students should have this at home today to complete for tomorrow.

  The first vocabulary test will be written next Tuesday, Sept. 23. Students should review 4 to 5 words a night and then by Monday night, review all 20 words. Students need to know the definitions of the words, their synonyms, antonyms, and how to use the words correctly in descriptive sentences. We will be reviewing every day in class as well.

 ELA--Students should be reading daily for 20 minutes and working towards their first IRP which is due October 1st.

The first"Evidence of Learning" which is a drawing/visual representation of their chosen vocabulary word will be due by Friday. Students should have taken this home today to work on as it cannot be done in one evening.

  The first vocabulary test will be written next Tuesday, Sept. 23. Students should review 4 to 5 words a night and then by Monday night, review all 20 words. Students need to know the definitions of the words, their synonyms, antonyms, and how to use the words correctly in descriptive sentences. We will be reviewing every day in class as well.

Math--We had an informal assessment today in Math so we will be correcting POW #1 on Monday, as well as  worksheet 3.1 questions #1 to 8 A and B.
 
SS--The "Index/Glossary" handout is due Monday.
 
French--Bring in a picture of yourself.

Math--POW #1 will be due Friday. The multiplication table is due tomorrow. Many finished it in class today.

We have just finished our first week of school successfully!!! It has been great!!!!!

Daily Update--Sept.4/14

Welcome to a new school year!

8T has had a great start to the year!

The students should have taken home an "8T Classroom Expectations" sheet that needs to be signed and returned to school. They also have a registration package that needs signatures. We have labeled all supplies today, and have chosen reading books from the library.

ELA--Daily reading of 20 minutes should occur every night. Students have set personal reading goals for the month of September, as well as a class goal.

Student council will be collecting Student Fees in front of the office tomorrow as well as next week. This is optional.
