Daly Update--Sept. 28/18

ELA--Silent reading for 20minutes every day.

--Students should be reading and working on their IRP which is due Tuesday, October 9/18. A detailed handout is in their reading journal, and samples have been shown in class. It is an assignment that needs to be worked on over several days and not the night before it is due so we have been discussing strategies to work on the assignment.


 --Students should have the rough draft of their bio-poem completed and they can start on the good copy. No due date has been set yet.


MATH:
--Worksheet on squares and square roots questions 1 to 20 and 29 for Monday.



SCIENCE:  8T
----A unit test will be written next Wednesday, Oct. 3. A checklist and study package has been handed out as well as some study strategies discussed.


--The observations of the grasshopper lab should be finished for Monday.


SCIENCE 8E--

---Microscope quiz will be written on Monday. Spelling of the terms must also be studied.

ELA--Silent reading for 20minutes every day.

--Vocabulary Unit 1 test will be written Tuesday, Sept.25th. We will be reviewing the words in class as well as going over study skills as to how to prepare for this type of test. Students should go over spelling and definitions of atleast 5 words every night prior to the test and then review all 20 words the night before the test. They should know the spelling and definitions of each word, examples of synonyms and antonyms, as well as being able to use each word correctly in a sentence.

--Students are to be working on the good copy of their chosen word for the "Evidence of Learning which is due next Tuesday.


The "Bio-Poem" was introduced today, and students need to be working on the rough draft of it. No due date has been set yet.


MATH:

3.1 worksheet on Squares and square roots questions # 1 to 8 are due Tuesday. We had enough time to complete this in class if students were using the time wisely.
