Daily Update--February 28/14


ELA--  In the unit project, Parts A and B should be completed. Students should now work on Part C. THIS PROJECT IS DUE MONDAY< MARCH 10. Vocabulary booklet is due Monday. The IRP is due Friday, March 7th.
 
Math--8.5 textbook questions on page 315--#4,5,7,8, and in problem format #13 and 15 for Monday. THE UNIT TEST IS ON WEDNESDAY.

 SS-- The rubric on the last project has been sent home to get signed and returned to school. The dictionary section of the Egypt project should be completed and handed in on Monday. Students should be researching their chosen topic. Make jot notes, and do not cut and paste. Work on the "Pecha Kucha" powerpoint. Collect materials and work on the model. THIS PROJECT IS DUE THURSDAY, MARCH 6th.
 
Science--Read and answer the questions in the booklet, "Natural Light Phenomena".
 
French--Work on your project.
 
Health--The poster is due Tuesday.
 
All read-a-thon pledges and money are due next week.

Daily Update--February 26/14

 

ELA--  The essay rubric needs to be signed and handed in, as well as the unit 5 vocabulary test. Students should be working on the third IRP which is a book report choice. This is due March 7th. Work a bit on it every night.  A short story unit project has been handed out, and the comprehension questions on  "Dreams" should be finished. Now the students should also have read the other five stories and decided which story frames to complete on two of those stories.
 
Math--8.5 worksheet questions--#1 to 5, #7a,8 and 9 for tomorrow..

This is due March 7th. Work a bit on it every night.  A short story unit project has been handed out, and the comprehension questions on  "Dreams" should be finished. Math--8.3 worksheet, questions #1 to 8 (just the equations), #9 a and b, and in problem format #10 and #11 for Monday. This unit is short, so we will probably have a test at the end of next week.

Daily Update--February 18/14


ELA-- Students were assigned a writing piece on "Heroes" which was due today and many are missing. The comprehension questions on the short story "Catch" were due today, and some students have not handed them in yet. The essay rubric needs to be signed and handed in. Students should be working on the third IRP which is a book report choice. This is due March 7th. Get a head start on it!
 
Math--8.2 textbook questions on pages 297-298---#9,10, 11, and in problem format #13 and 15, and #20,22, 25 a and b, and #28a are all due for Thursday.

 SS-- Get the map quiz signed and returned to school. Look over and decide on a topic for your next Egypt project.
Science-- Lab reports were due today.
 
French--Begin working on your project.
 
8R-Science--Complete the drawing and labeling of the reflection rays for Thursday.
 
Remember that we are going on our field trip to the Manitoba Museum and the Planetarium tomorrow. We should be loaded on the bus and ready to leave by 8:50. You need to bring a lunch as there are no vendors available for us to buy anything.

Daily Update--February 14/14

ELA--There were some "Evidence of Learning" assignments which are still missing. They must be in asap. Students have also been assigned a writing piece on "Heroes" which is due Tuesday. The comprehension questions on the short story "Catch" are due Tuesday.

 SS--  The students who were absent today must write their test on Tuesday.
 
Science-- Lab report is due Tuesday.
 
French--Five sentences are due Tuesday.

ELA--There were some "Evidence of Learning" assignments which were not handed in today. They must be in asap. The vocabulary test for unit 5 will be written tomorrow. Review the words, their definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and proper usage in a sentence. Students have also been assigned a writing piece on "Heroes" which is due Tuesday.

Math-- Textbook 8.1 questions--#6,7,8,13, 14, and in problem format #15 and 16 a--are due tomorrow.

 SS--  The 3 point approach projects (poster and model) were presented in class. Students were taking down notes during these presentations. They need to review these terms in preparation of the test which will  be written tomorrow. THE NOTES MUST ALSO BE HANDED IN AFTER THE TEST, SO DO NOT FORGET THEM AT HOME.
 
Science-- Bring in a shoebox with lid to school for our next experiment.
 
French--Five sentences are due Tuesday.
 
A letter and permission form were sent home on Friday outlining our trip to the Manitoba Museum next Wednesday. The $10 and signed form should be in asap.

Daily Update--February 11/14

ELA-- Some January reading calendars(signed) have not been handed in yet. Students were assigned an "Evidence of Learning" assignment for unit 5 vocabulary words which they are presently working on. It will be due by Thursday.  Check the rubric so all criteria is meet. The vocabulary test for unit 5 will be written on Friday. Review the words ever night. Students have also been assigned a writing piece on "Heroes". They are choose a person who they admire and view as their "Hero", and write a paragraph describing that person--a character sketch. This will be due next week.

Math-- Integers was started today. Worksheets 6.2 and 8.1 are due tomorrow.

Daily Update--February 7/13

ELA-- Some IRPs were not handed in today and are late. They must be in on Monday. Get January reading calendars signed asap. Students were assigned a new "Evidence of Learning" assignment for unit 5 vocabulary words which they are presently working on. It will be due by middle of next week (Wed./Thurs.)  The vocabulary test for unit 5 will be written on Friday.

Math--  Students need to work through the remainder of the exam review package in preparation of the Math exam which will be written on  Monday. We talked about having a pencil case with several pencils and an eraser in it. They can also bring a calculator to the exam.

 SS--  The 3 point approach project (poster and model) were due today. Some projects are late and need to be in on Monday. Practice presentations and skits as the projects will be presented on Monday. A test on the 24 words presented in class will be written by the end of the week.

ELA-- The next IRP will be due Friday, Feb. 7th.  Get January reading calendars signed asap. Students were assigned a new "Evidence of Learning" assignment for unit 5 vocabulary words which they can start working on. It will be due by middle of next week.

Math-- Students need to do all corrections on their Fractions test, have the tests signed, and bring them back to school tomorrow. POW #16 will be corrected on Friday. Students also need to complete, for tomorrow, the following questions in their exam booklet--page 246--#4 a and b, #5 d and f, #6, 10 a, 12, and #14 in problem format.  Math exam is next Monday.

SS--  We have started a new project which is due Friday so students should be finished the research and should be working on the project poster and model. Please check the rubric as you are working on the project.
 
Science--Have the 4 questions (page 271--#1,3,4,and 6) completed as we did not have time to correct them today.
 
French--Outstanding assignments are due.

Daily Update--February 4/14

ELA-- The next IRP will be due Friday, Feb. 7th.  We did not reach our January reading goal, but we set new goals for the month of February, and hopefully will read so we can reach individual and class goals. Students were assigned a new "Evidence of Learning" assignment for unit 5 vocabulary words which they can start working on. No due date has been set yet.

Math-- Students need to do all corrections on their Fractions test, have the tests signed, and bring them back to school tomorrow. POW #16 will be corrected on Friday. Students also need to complete, for tomorrow, the following questions in their exam booklet--page 4--every second question, page 22-#4,6,7b, 8, and 10 c and d and #12 a and b; on page 25--#5, 10, and 16.  Math exam is next Monday.

SS-- The map quiz on Egypt will be written on Wednesday. Students have extra copies of blank maps to study on. We have started a new project which is due Friday so students should be finished the research and should begin the project poster and model. Please check the rubric as you are working on the project.
 
Health--"Anger" quiz is tomorrow.
 
8R-Science--The labeled, coloured diagram and explanation of the fluorescent light bulb is due tomorrow.

Monday, February 3/14

 

ELA-- The next IRP will be due Friday, Feb. 7th.  We did not reach our January reading goal, but we set new goals for the month of February, and hopefully will read so we can reach individual and class goals.

Math-- Today students were handed back their Fractions unit tests. They need to do all the corrections and get the tests signed and returned to school tomorrow. POW #16 was given today and will be corrected on Friday. Students can also work on the next page of their exam review. Math exam is next Monday.

Science-- Questions #1,3,4,and 6 on page 270 are due tomorrow and the students will be writing a short quiz tomorrow on the luminous light sources. They have notes and graphic organizers.
