Daily Update--December 22/13

For the Christmas holidays, the only homework the students have would be to read. I hope they have an interesting book to read which they then will be able to use for the second IRP ( not due until the beginning of February).

The students do have a French worksheet due January 6th.

Daily Update--December 18/13

ELA--There are still a few students who need to hand in their reflections and present their powerpoint for their IRP.

Math--6.3 worksheet questions #1 to 4 and 5 and 8 are due.

 Science-- A few students need to do their oral presentation by end of tomorrow.  Fill in the Blanks worksheet is due.

  French-- Worksheet due for January 6th.

  We had our Christmas party and gift exchange today. Thank you to those students who brought food for the party.

Skiers, remember to dress warmly for tomorrow and have a great day!

ELA --   The first IRP powerpoints were presented today, but we ran out of time so more will be presented tomorrow. It should be saved on an USB stick so it can be presented to the class. Some students still need to hand in their signed unit 4 vocabulary test.

 Math -- Get tests signed and corrected. 6.3 worksheet #1 to 4 and 5 and 8 are due for tomorrow.

Science-- Prepare for oral presentations which will be presented by Wednesday. Fill in the Blanks worksheet is due tomorrow.

ELA -- The November calendars need to be signed and returned as soon as possible.  The first IRP powerpoint is due tomorrow. It should be saved on an USB stick so it can be presented to the class. Some students still need to hand in their signed unit 4 vocabulary test.

 Math -- Get tests signed and corrected. Review adding, and subtracting fractions.  6.2 concept on pages 208-209 #4 and 5 and in problem format #7 and 10 for tomorrow.

Science-- Prepare for oral presentations which will be presented by Wednesday. Aim #11 is due tomorrow.

 French-- Dictee is due December 17th. Worksheets are due tomorrow as well.

 Math -- Get tests signed and corrected. Review adding, and subtracting fractions.  Also review multiplying and dividing fractions by whole numbers. Surprise quiz next week.

Science-- Unit Tests still need to be signed and returned. Prepare for oral presentations which will be presented by next Wednesday.

 French-- Dictee is due December 17th.  Worksheet is due December 16th. Good Copy of Title page is due Friday. 5 sentences are due Monday.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Montreal massacre. In support of "Violence Against Women", we are encouraging all students and staff to wear white to school. They can also wear a hat if they donate $2 to the Christmas Cheer Board. The school is also collecting non-perishable food items and/or toys which can be brought to school until next Friday.

WOW!! It is December! How time flies! We have a very busy next few weeks so I hope the students are managing their time wisely.

ELA--Have your November calendars signed and returned tomorrow. The first IRP powerpoint is due by Dec.17th. The rough draft of the Christmas story should be atleast half way completed as the editing and revising needs to be done along with creating a cover jacket and back page. The story is due by next Friday.

Math--We wrote the unit test today so there is no homework.

SS--Concept Relationship Frame is due tomorrow. There were several students who did not hand in their "Doorway to Civilization" assignment which was due today. It MUST be handed in tomorrow. Get SS test signed and returned tomorrow.

Daily Update--Nov.6/13

Hi there!

I am finally back at school today. I was sick and could not even talk for the last two days so I did not update the blog. My apologies.

ELA--The third IRP should be in by tomorrow. The "Evidence of Learning" is also due for tomorrow.

Math--The POW will be due for Tuesday. There is extra help offered during the noon hours for students who are struggling with the most recent concepts and students should be coming in for the help.

SS--Get the Personal Timeline rubric signed and returned tomorrow. Students are presently working on an Early Settlements project either individually or with a partner. They should be gathering information in the form of jot notes. The project includes a model as well. The due date will be next week.

French--Dictee on Nov. 15. Worksheets due the same day. Students should be working on their scenarios.

ELA--Unit 3 vocabulary booklet is due Monday. The jot notes and rough draft of the summary of chapter 3 is due Monday. You can work ahead and write the rough draft of the reflections too. Work on the third IRP.

Math--Complete the Percent Conversion Chart for Monday. Bring in corrected and signed Unit tests.

Science--Have the crossword puzzle completed for Monday.

SS--Have the "Putting Words Together" worksheet completed for Monday.

French--Lab info is due Monday. Good copies of poems are due Tuesday.

Woodworking booklet is due Monday.

Daily Update--October 23/13

ELA--The Unit 3 vocabulary booklet is due Monday. Skim over chapter 3 in the novel as the assignment will be discussed tomorrow.

Math--The Unit Test needs to be signed and the corrections need to be completed for tomorrow. We will be correcting the rest of the green worksheet tomorrow.

Science--Some of the animal cell models still have not been handed in.

French--Lab information is due Monday. Good copy of the poem due Tuesday.

SS-Some personal timelines need to be handed in asap.

I was at an in-service today so was not at school. The homework though is similar to yesterday.

ELA--Vocabulary Unit 2 Synonym/Antonym page is due tomorrow. Exercise 25 and 26 in the Adjective booklet is due tomorrow as well. Finish reading chapter 3 in the novel for tomorrow.

Math--Green worksheet 4.1 introducing percents is due tomorrow.

Daily Update--October 18/13

ELA--Students are continuing with their daily reading as their October reading goal is due at the end of the month. They also need to be reading towards their third and final IRP response for the term which is due no later then Nov.6th. They have a booklet on "Adjectives"--exercises #21,23, and 24 due Monday.

Math--We wrote our unit test today so there is no homework.

Science--The animal cell model with a legend and coloured drawing is due Monday. A functions test on the organelles will be written on Wednesday.

SS--All personal timelines are due Wednesday.

French--Dictee is on October 22.

Daily Update--October 17/13

ELA--Mind Map for the novel is due tomorrow. Second IRP is due tomorrow. Read chapter 2 in the novel and be prepared to write  a comprehension test on its events tomorrow.

Math--POW is due tomorrow, and we will be writing the unit test as well. Review is "Chapter Self-Test" questions #3 a and b, #7,9,10, and #12 abc, and then the last page of the review package --#6 a and b, and #9.

Science--Get test signed. Animal cell model is due Monday. Functions test is next Wednesday.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

ELA--The second IRP is due by the end of this week. The vocabulary paragraph is due tomorrow, and the test on Unit 2 words will be on Thursday. The Mind Map for the novel is due Friday.

Math--The unit test is on Friday so we will be reviewing every day until then. There will be extra review at noon hours for anyone who wants it. The first review sheet questions #4, 5 b,c,d, #9 b,c,d, #10 b,c,d, #12 d,e,f, and #16 a in problem format and #16 b are due tomorrow. The POW is due Friday.

Daily Update--October 8/13

ELA--Have chapter one in the novel read for tomorrow. Begin the Evidence of Learning for unit 2 by choosing your vocabulary words and starting the rough draft of the paragraph. Work towards your second IRP (due around Oct.16th).

Math--Same worksheet as yesterday, however complete questions #7 c and d, #8,9,10, 12,13, and 17 c for tomorrow. Some signed tests still need to be handed in.

Science--Get microscope quizzes signed and returned. Study the spelling of the 12 animal cell organelles for tomorrow's spelling test.

French--Dictee is October 22.

Daily Update--October 7/13

ELA--We started reading our novel, The Outsiders today. The students have a Venn Diagram to complete for tomorrow. Some students have been asked to find some pictures for tomorrow for the novel. Work on the second IRP which is due around October 16. Vocabulary tests need to be signed and returned.

Math--Hand in signed tests with the corrections completed. The Mental Math worksheet needs to be completed for tomorrow, as well as the other worksheet #4,5,6, and 7a,b,c for tomorrow. POW is due Friday.

Science--Get the microscope quiz signed and returned.

French--Good copy is due tomorrow.

Daily Update--Oct.4/13

ELA--Students need to work towards their second IRP which for many is just finishing reading their books and attaching sticky notes. Some who were missing classes this week need to complete their grammar assignment.

Math--The mid-unit test was handed back today so students need to get the tests signed and corrections done for Monday.

Science--Mid-unit test is on Monday. Use the checklist and study habits discussed in class to review and prepare for the test.

SS--Those who were away need to read pages 26 and 27 and make their sticky notes (3 for facts, 3 for questions, and 3 for "Ahha" moments).

French--Good copy is due Tuesday.

ELA--Get the vocabulary test signed and returned tomorrow. Get the September reading calendar signed and returned tomorrow. In vocabulary  unit 2, the synonyms and antonyms page is due tomorrow.

Math--The mid-unit test on perfect squares, square roots, prime factorization, and factoring as well as problem solving is tomorrow. Students have worksheets as well as their textbook to review.

Science--Begin preparing for the mid unit test which will be next MOnday. A checklist has been given along with study hints. Remember to study by doing!

Health--Journal entry #3 is due Friday.

Cooking--Test on Friday.

Wow! The last day of the month!

ELA--The Bio-poems are due tomorrow. The grammar sheet on plurals of nouns is due tomorrow. We will be counting up our reading pages tomorrow so please remember your reading journals. Vocabulary Unit 2 Synonyms and Antonyms page is due Wednesday.

Daily Update--Sept.26/13

ELA--Bio poems are due Tuesday. Everyone took theirs home to work on over the weekend. Our September reading goals are due Tuesday so please read over the weekend to reach your personal goal. There were some students who did not hand in their Evidence of Learning assignment so that MUST be handed in on Monday.

Math--Mid-unit review worksheet questions #2,3,4,5,8, and 12 a,b,and c  are due Monday. This is in preparation for the Mid Unit Test on Wednesday.

Science--Microscope quiz is Tuesday and study hints with study sheets have been handed out. Lab reports are also due Monday.

French--Dictee rewrite is on Tuesday at noon.

ELA-The first IRP is due tomorrow unless you have spoken with me. "Evidence of learning" illustration of the vocabulary word is due Thursday. Bio-poems are due by next Tuesday.

Math--Worksheet 3.3 #1 to 5, #7 and #8 in problem format are due tomorrow. There is also a rewrite of the first short assessment tomorrow at noon for those who have come in for extra help. It is also open for anyone who would like to improve their first mark.

Science--Have the observations of the grasshopper dissection completed for tomorrow.

SS--The web on "Society" is due tomorrow. Remember that you need between 10 and 12 points on the web. You are to read page 18 in the textbook to get your information.
