Daily Update--Dec.18/12

I have just found out that my daily homework updates have not been published into my blogsite since Nov.21, and I have been typing them every day. I apologize for the error, and have no idea why it was not working. We are in the process of correcting this so it will be fixed shortly. Thank you for your patience, and if ever there are no updates, please let me know.

ELA--Cover jacket contest entries must be in by Friday. Work on your second book project which is due January 9th.

Science--Practice for the oral presentation of Pulmonary Circulation of the Blood which must be presented before Friday. Complete the "Fill in the Blanks" worksheet for tomorrow. Review vocabulary words for a short quiz tomorrow.

SS--Mesopotamia questions #10 to 17 are due . We did not get a chance to correct them today.

Daily Update--Dec.17/12

ELA--The cover jacket for the novel is due by Friday, the latest. Work on your book project which is due by January 9th.

Math--6.2 textbook work, page 208/209--#4 and 5, then in problem format #6a, 7,8, 10, and 11 for tomorrow.

Science--Practice your oral presentation of the Pulmonary Circulation of the blood. This must be presented before Friday.

SS--Work on questions #10 to 17 in the Mesopotamia booklet for tomorrow. Get your map quizzes signed and returned tomorrow.

Daily Update--Dec.14/12

ELA--Christmas story is due MOnday. Cover jacket and back jacket with rough drafts are all due. Do not staple together as I would like to laminate the covers. Work on your cover jacket for the novel and enter it into the contest (must be handed in by Friday to be eligible for the contest).YOur second IRP/book project is due by January 9th, so either work to get it in before the holidays or it will be homework over the holidays.

Math--Get tests signed and returned.

Science--Practice for the oral presentation of Pulmonary Circulation of the Blood as you must do it before next Friday. Also, complete the #11 booklet for Monday.

SS--Have the Mesopotamia questions #2 to 9 completed for MOnday.

Daily Update--Dec.13/12

ELA--The Christmas story is due Monday with a cover jacket and a back cover as well. Students were introduced to the Cover Jacket Contest for the novel. This is due by next Friday.

Math--Get signed Unit tests in asap.

French--Dictee is tomorrow.

8R  Science--Practice Pulmonary Circulation because you must present before next Friday.

Daily Update--Dec.12/12

ELA--Students need to read chapters 11 and 12 for tomorrow as they will be writing a comprehensions test on those two chapters. Please read it and then go over it again paying close attention to details.  Christmas writing is due Monday.

SS--Students will be writing a map quiz tomorrow on the area of Ancient Mesopotamia. Go over the map from classroom work. The 3-point approach is also due tomorrow.

French--Comprehension questions are due tomorrow. Study for Friday's dictee.

Daily Update--Dec. 11/12

ELA--Work on your Christmas writing which is due Monday.  Get vocabulary test signed.

Math--Do corrections and get Unit Test signed and returned tomorrow. Textbook 6.1 pages 202 - 203 # 5,7 , and in problem format #8 and 9, and # 12 and 15 for tomorrow.

SS--Map quiz on Mesopotamia on Thursday. Use the blank maps to study on. The 3 point approach is due Thursday as well.

French--Get test signed. Comprehension questions are due Dec. 13 and dictee is Dec.14.


Bring in material for Christmas Cheer Board.

Daily Update--Dec.10/12

ELA--Get vocabulary unit 4 test signed and brought back to school. Your Christmas writing rough draft should be half way done if not almost completed as you have to edit, revise, and make a cover jacket and back page. This must all be done by Monday, Dec.17 when you will be reading them to the class.

Math--Worksheet 6.1 #1,2,4,5,7, and in problem format #9 for tomorrow.

Science--Complete Booklet #12A and the Blood Vessels Chart for tomorrow.

SS--Complete the map of Mesopotamia for tomorrow.

French--You have questions due for tomorrow. Comprehension questions are due Dec. 13, and the next dictee is on Dec.14. Also get your test signed.

ELA--Get the unit 4 vocabulary test signed and returned on Monday. Work on your Christmas writing.  Work on reading your book for the next book project.

Math--We started the new unit on  Fractions. The students have a worksheet to complete for Monday. #1 to 5 on one side , and a to e on the flip side.

French-- Comprehension questions are due Dec. 13.  Dictee is on Dec. 14.

Daily Update--Dec.5/12

ELA--The comprehension questions for chapters 8 and 9 are due Friday as music students have a concert tonight. Get signed chapter 6 quiz in.

Math--Unit test on percents is tomorrow. For tonight's review, work on questions #5,9,12 a,e, and f, and #17 in the textbook pages 150-151.

Science--Bring signed tests in.

SS--Bring signed tests back to class.

Tomorrow we are having our October reading party. Yes, we are behind. We are planning on going outside for half an hour or so,therefore students need to bring appropriate outdoor wear. We will then have icecream sundaes and hot chocolate. Some students have offered to bring toppings. Thank you in advance to those students.

Please do not forget to wear white tomorrow.

ELA--Hand in signed chapter 6 comprehension quizz. Review for the vocabulary test which is tomorrow. Work on the chapter 8 and 9 comprehension questions tonight. They are due tentatively for Thursday.

Math--Review booklet in preparation of unit test is due tomorrow. Test is on Thursday.

Science--HAnd in signed unit test.

SS--Get test signed and returned to class.

We are having our reading party on Thursday-- last hour of the day. Students should bring appropriate clothing as we will be going outside for a bit. We will also have ice cream sundaes and a few students have offered to bring toppings.

ELA--The bookmark reading strategy for chapter 7 of the novel is due tomorrow. Review vocabulary words for Wednesday's test. Get chapter 6 quiz signed for tomorrow.

Math--Complete the" Percent of a Number" worksheet for tomorrow. Thursday will be the unit test date.

Science--The Naked Egg lab report is due tomorrow. Return signed tests.

SS--Complete the Concept Relationship Frame for tomorrow. Get your test signed and returned tomorrow.

Health--Friends poster is due tomorrow.

Daily Update--Nov.30/12

ELA--Anyone who has not yet handed in their IRP or book project need to do so by Monday. Review your unit 4 vocabulary words for the test on Wednesday. Have the chapter 6 novel quiz signed and returned by Monday. Read chapter 7 in the novel and start working on the Bookmark Reading strategy.

Math--Start reviewing for the unit test which will be either Wednesday or Thursday.

SS--Read pages 50-51 and make a web entitled "What is a civilization?" with atleast 10 points for Monday.

Science--Work on your "Naked Egg" experiment and report which is due Tuesday.

French--Your unit test is on Monday.

Daily Update--Nov.29/12

ELA-The "Evidence of Learning" vocabulary unit 4 is due tomorrow. The IRP or book project is due either tomorrow or Monday. Unit 4 vocabulary test has been set for next Wednesday. Start reviewing now.

Math--4.4 in the textbook page 148-149 questions #4,5,6,8, and in problem format--#9a and #10 for tomorrow.

Science--Hopefully everyone has set up their Naked Egg Science Inquiry. It must sit for 72 hours with observations recorded periodically. Final lab report is due Tuesday.

Daily Update--Nov.28/12

I apologize for no entry yesterday as I was ill and away from school.

ELA--Students are working on their Evidence of Learning sentences and illustrations which are due Friday. Their IRP/book project is due either Friday or Monday.

SS--Test on the ancient structures and settlements is tomorrow. They have notes from the presentations as well as from the textbook which they should be using to study from. They need to have these notes tomorrow in class as I will be asking that they hand them in for marks.

Science--Questions #1 to 7 in the textbook page 45 are due tomorrow. The students need to begin their Science Inquiry called The Naked Egg. This is an experiment to be done at home over the next 72 hours, and then there is a lab report to follow which is due Tuesday.

French--Dictee is tomorrow. A unit test is Monday.

Daily Update--Nov.26/12

ELA--The letter to Sodapop is due tomorrow. Many students have already handed them in. The Evidence of Learning has been explained for Unit 4 so now the students need to start composing sentences in varying structure. This booklet will be due Friday. The first IRP/book project for the second term is due by the end of the week or Monday the latest.

SS--Test on Thursday. Begin reviewing now. The checklist has been given out.

French--French locker is due tomorrow, and the dictee is Thursday.

8R Science--You are working on your "Naked Egg" science inquiry due by next MOnday.

Daily Update--Nov.21/12

ELA--Work on the rough draft of your letter from Ponyboy to Sodapop. Also, work on the first IRP/book project for this term.

Science--You should be reviewing for Monday's test.

SS--Your project is due tomorrow. You will have 10 minutes to put any final touches on it at that time. Do not forget the bibliography.


Students took their portfolios home today, so hopefully they will have time to sit down with parents and go over the contents before the interviews tomorrow night or Friday morning.

Daily Update--January 9/12

Welcome back!
I hope everyone had a relaxing and peaceful holiday.
Now back to work,8T!

ELA--Students received a few assignments/tests back which need to be signed and returned tomorrow. Their second book report is due tomorrow morning.
Our December reading calendar will be undated and counted up tomorrow to see if students have reached their individual and class goals.

Math--The unit test was handed back today. Students need to have their corrections done on a separate sheet and have the test signed and returned tomorrow.

Student will be allowed to watch the Cougars hockey game on Friday, so a permission form has been emailed to everyone. The form and $2 need to be handed in to the office by Thursday.

I have also spoken to the students about our trip the Brandon.Ag Days next Thursday. Please have a read of the letter, sign the premission form, and return to me. If you have any wuestions, please feeel free to phone me.
