Daily Update--Jan.31/13

ELA--The third book project is due Monday. Anyone who has not handed in their signed essay rubrics need to do so by Monday.

Science--Have the explanation and drawing of the fluorescent light bulb and the 3 point approach on transparency done for MOnday.

SS--The mini project on the Egyptian word is due Tuesday. That includes the poster with information, many diagrams, and a model. Presentations will begin on Tuesday.

8R--Science--Have the explanation and drawing of the fluorescent light bulb and the 3 point approach on transparency doen for MOnday.

Electronics safety test will be on Day 4.

Daily Update--Jan.30/13

ELA--The last part of the assessment will be written tomorrow. Students need to review the essential parts of an essay and remember to include those in their essay. Review grammar for tomorrow as well. The third book project is due Monday. Get essay evaluation sheet signed and returned tomorrow.

Math--The unit test will be written tomorrow so for review---page 236-237--#15, 16 in problem format, #24, 25 in problem format, and on the worksheet #6 a to d, and #9.

Science--The drawing and explanation of a fluorescent light bulb is due tomorrow.

SS--Research and work on your Egyptian mini-project due next Tuesday.

Daily Update--Jan.29/13

ELA--The students started the first part of their assessment today which was the rough draft of the expository essay. Tomorrow they will complete it, and they will begin editting and revising. They will also have a grammar section to complete. They should be working on a grammar sheet at home tonight, and I will be collecting it tomorrow for marks. They also have the third book project due by Monday.  Some students have not yet returned their signed essay.

Math--In preparation of Thursday's test, they have pages 236 and 237 questions #1 to 4, 6, 7 and 8in problem format, #13, 14(in problem format), and #20 due for tomorrow.

Science--Have the lab scribbler in class tomorrow, and bring in a shoe box (or some similar shaped box) with a lid to class asap.

SS-Get the Map quiz signed and returned tomorrow.-Continue the research of the Egyptian word for the mini project.

French--Comprehension and dictee is tomorrow.

Art--The tessellations must be done for tomorrow.

Daily Update--Jan.28/13

ELA--Tomorrow is the first day of our ELA assessment. We discussed in class, that to prepare, students need to review comments on the 2 rubrics that were handed back today. Review the sheet of notes on essay writing. Get a good night's sleep, and eat breakfast. Get the two rubrics signed and returned tomorrow. The third project is due no later than Feb.4.

Math--Review for the unit test which will be Thursday.

Science--Review the graphic organizer on Luminescent Light Sources as there is a short test on it tomorrow.

SS--Begin research on your chosen Egyptian word for the Word-a-Day mini project.

French--Comprehension due Wednesday. Dictee January 30.

Daily Update--Jan.25/13

ELA--This is the last weekend to review grammar in preparation of next week's exam. Students have a few more sheets to work on.  Work on the third book project. Review vocabulary Unit 5 booklet for Monday's test.

Math--Worksheet 6.6 #5 and 6 in problem format, and #7 a and b.  In the textbook, page234--6.6--#5 and 6 and in problem format--#7 and 12.

Science--Complete the graphic organizer for Monday.

SS--Map quiz on Monday.

Art--Have tessellations coloured for Monday.

Daily Update--Jan.24/13

ELA--Grammar assignment is due tomorrow. Review vocabulary words for Monday's test. Book project #3 is due by Feb.4.

Daily Update--Jan.23/13

ELA--The "Evidence of Learning" for Unit 5 is due tomorrow. We decided to write the test for this unit on Monday so they have the weekend to review the vocabulary words.Two more grammar worksheets are due tomorrow as review for next week's assessment. Book project #3 is due by Feb.4.

Math--The students who did not get better than 75% on the short quiz last week need to rewrite at noon tomorrow so they need to review all operations of fractions tonight.

Science--Title page is due tomorrow. Remember that on the backside you need to provide the definitions of all 6 new words and list 5 good questions that you have about optics. The booklet, "What is Energy" is due tomorrow. The challenge that was presented today is also due tomorrow. The graphic organizer about "Incandescent" is also due tomorrow.

SS--Get test signed and returned asap.

ELA--We are beginning our exam review with grammar worksheets. Have the 2 worksheets completed for tomorrow. Your "Evidence of Learning" is due Thursday. The third book project is due Jan.31 or Feb.4.

Foods--Test on Friday.

Daily Update--Jan.17/13

ELA--Students are working on their essay. It is due either by tomorrow or Monday, the latest. They are also starting on their "Evidence of Learning" for unit 5 which is a choice of any activity which we have done prior to unit 5. The third book project is due by Jan.31/Feb.4.

Math--The drama students will be writing a short quiz (10 questions) as review of the fractions operatons we have been working on in class.

If students are wanting to watch the Cougar hockey game, they are to bring a signed permission form and $2 to the office tomorrow.

Daily Update--Jan.16/13

Hello! I am back!!!! Finally! Hopefully this will work, and if anytime there is not a daily update, please let me know. Thank you!

ELA--The students are now working on their novel essay which they have been working on since last week. We have been editting, and now they are working on their second draft. The final copy is due either by Friday or MOnday, the latest.

Math--We have corrected 6.4 in fractions, and will be writing a short quiz on the three concepts (adding, subtracting, multiplying of fractions) tomorrow. Students have a few questionsto do as review tonight.

SS--We wrote our Mesopotamia test today, so no homework tonight.

French--Their brochure is due tomorrow.

Science--We wrote our unit test on MOnday, so no homework tonight.

On Friday, students have the opportunity to watch the Cougar hockey game on Friday. We will be leaving at 10:45 and returning at 1:00. It will cost them $2 and they need a signed permission slip by tomorrow,Regular classes for the afternoon.

I hope the students enjoyed the day yesterday at MB Ag Days.
