Daily Update--October 15/14

ELA--Students are reading daily and making jot notes with their sticky notes towards their second IRP which will be due by October 31st.
 Students need to get their September reading calendars signed and returned to class asap.

The students will be writing a grammar test tomorrow, Thursday, Oct.16th. They need to study common and proper nouns, the pluralization of nouns, and the possessive forms of nouns.

 The new "Evidence of Learning" was explained with a handout. To stay on track, their rough draft of this paragraph should be done and they should be working on their revisions. This assignment in its completion will be due by  Friday, October 17th.


Math--Students need to do their corrections on the Mid-unit test (which was handed back on Friday), and get it signed. Return the test to school asap. We started a new concept and there is a worksheet on multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 due tomorrow.

SS--

Science--The Mid-unit test was handed back today. Students need to get it signed and returned tomorrow.

French--Paragraph is due Monday, Oct. 20th.

ELA--Students are reading daily and making jot notes with their sticky notes towards their second IRP which will be due by October 31st.

Daily Update--October 10/14

ELA--Students are reading daily and making jot notes with their sticky notes towards their second IRP which will be due by October 31st.

  Students need to get their September reading calendars signed and returned to class asap.

The new "Evidence of Learning" was explained with a handout. Students should have made their list of 10 or more words and decided on the topic of their paragraph. To stay on track, their rough draft of this paragraph should be done by Tuesday. This assignment in its completion will be due by  Friday, October 17th.


Math--The mid-unit test has been handed back, and students need to do their corrections, and have the test signed and returned by Tuesday.

SS--The next "Weekly News" is due Tuesday.

Science--

8R Science-Spelling test of the 12 animal cell organelles will be on Tuesday.

The class surpassed their class reading of 7589 pages by reading 8807 pages. As a result of this, we had our reading party this afternoon where we played in the gym for 35 minutes and then watched a movie and had munchies. Thank you to the students who graciously brought food and/or movies.

Daily Update--October 9/14

ELA--Students are reading daily and making jot notes with their sticky notes towards their second IRP which will be due by October 31st.
 Students need to get their September reading calendars signed and returned to class asap.

The new "Evidence of Learning" was explained yesterday with a handout. Students should make their list of 10 or more words for tomorrow, and start thinking about the topic of their paragraph to stay on track. This assignment in its completion will be due by next Friday.


Math--POW #5 is due tomorrow.

SS--The Compare and Contrast Frame on Primary and Secondary Sources is due tomorrow. The next "Weekly News" is due Tuesday.

Science--

8R Science-

The class surpassed their class reading of 7589 pages by reading 8807 pages. As a result of this, we will be having our reading party tomorrow afternoon which will be watching a movie and having munchies. Some students have graciously offered to bring food for tomorrow so I hope they do not forget. Some students will also be bringing in movies which we will vote on as to which one we will watch.

Daily Update--October 7/14

ELA--Students are reading daily and making jot notes with their sticky notes towards their second IRP which will be due by October 31st.

  Students need to get their September reading calendars signed and returned to class.
Grammar--Pages 12, 13, and 14 on possessive nouns is due tomorrow.

Math--We will be having a Mid-unit test tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct.8. As a review tonight, students can work through a variety of questions from the textbook or other worksheets that they were working on throughout this unit.

SS--

Science--We will be writing a mid-unit test on Thursday, Oct.9th. Students have been given a checklist, organized their notes, and we have reviewed some study strategies. We will be reviewing as a class as well; and I have suggested to the students that they put aside atleast 20-25 minutes each night to review their notes and incorporate the study habits discussed in class. I handed out a package of review sheets  that students can use along with their own review.

 I am still waiting for signed unit 1 vocabulary tests.
 Students need to get their September reading calendars signed and returned to class.

Math--We will be having a Mid-unit test on Wednesday, Oct.8. Students have an assignment on the review worksheet that was given out today. They are to do questions #2,3,4,5,7 i),v), and vi, #9 a and b, #12 a and c, and #15 for tomorrow.  There will be extra Math help at noon on  Tuesday in preparation for the test.

Daily Update--October 3/14

ELA--Students are reading daily and making jot notes with their sticky notes towards their second IRP which will be due by October 31st.
 I am still waiting for signed unit 1 vocabulary tests.
 Students need to get their September reading calendars signed and returned to class.

Math--We will be having a Mid-unit test on Wednesday, Oct.8. Students have been given a checklist and yesterday they had a review assignment on pages 99/100--questions #1,2,5,6,7,8,12, and 13 a and b. There are many questions in the textbook which they can use as review over the weekend. On Monday, I will be giving them more review sheets. There will be extra Math help at noon on Monday and Tuesday in preparation for the test.

SS--If anyone has not handed in their "Weekly Word News" or "What is a Society?", they need to do so on Monday.
