DAily Update--January 17/14

ELA--Daily reading.  Have December's reading calendars signed asap.  For the novel essay, students should have the rough drafts of the introductory paragraph and the three body paragraphs done for Monday. This is to keep them on schedule as the final good copy of the essay will be due Friday, January 24th.

Math--  POW #14 will be corrected on Monday as we were writing our SS test today.  The 6.6 worksheet questions #1,2,3 a and b, #4 c and d, #5 in problem format, and #7 a  and b are due Monday as well. A unit test on fractions will be written at the end of next week.
 SS--We wrote the test today. Students need to work on their Sumerian letters (two of them) in response to the Help Wanted Ads. They are due by Wednesday. 
 
French--Project rough draft is due Jan.21. Dictee is on Feb.4.

8R-Science--Title page with all requirements is due Tuesday.

There are still a few students who must bring in their permission forms for the MB Ag Days.
 
A letter went home today outlining the schedule for our Grade 8 ELA and Math exams. If you have any questions, please give me a call or email.

Daily Update--January 15/14

 

ELA--Daily reading.  Have December's reading calendars signed asap. The introductory paragraph rough draft of the essay is due for editing; and students should have the first body paragraph rough draft done for tomorrow. This is to keep them on schedule as the final good copy of the essay will be due next Friday, January 24th.

Math--  POW #14 will be corrected on Friday.

Science- The unit test in Science was written today so no homework.
 SS--Use the blue Mesopotamia booklet to study for the Mesopotamia test which will be written tomorrow. Check over the checklist when studying. Use textbook and notes. The booklet will need to be handed in tomorrow.

 Art--Tessellations project is due. 
 
French--Project rough draft is due Jan.21. Dictee is on Feb.4.
 
Foods--Test on Friday.

Daily Update--January 14/14

ELA--Daily reading.  Have December's reading calendars signed asap. Students should have chosen a topic of their Outsiders essay and should be working on the introductory paragraph jot notes/ thesis statement with three main points. The paragraph rough draft is due no later than tomorrow; and they can start working on the first body paragraph.

Math--6.5 textbook questions are due tomorrow--pages 227-228--#5 a and b, #6 a and b, #9, #10 a , and in problem format #11 and 12.  POW #14 will be corrected on Friday.

Science- The unit test in Science will be written on tomorrow, so continue to further prepare and study for the test.
 
SS--Have questions #16-21 in the blue Mesopotamia booklet done for tomorrow. Mesopotamia test will be written on Thursday of this week. Check over the checklist when studying. Use textbook and notes.

 Art--Tessellations project is due.

Math--6.5 Board questions are due tomorrow. POW #14 will be corrected on Friday.

Science- The unit test in Science will be written on Wednesday so continue to further prepare and study for the test.

Daily Update--January 10/14

ELA--Daily reading. The students were introduced to essay writing, and they should decide by Monday as to what topic they will want to write about for their Outsiders essay. Vocabulary booklet unit 5 is to be completed for MOnday. Have December's reading calendars signed for Monday.

Math--6.4 textbook assignment--questions #4,5,7,8 and #12 and 16 were corrected today. No other homework was assigned. POW #11 will be corrected on Monday.

Science- They need to complete the second "Fill in the Blanks" sheet and crossword puzzle in the AHA booklet, and have their sample test and answer key ready to hand in on Monday. The unit test in Science will be written on Wednesday so use the weekend to further prepare and study for the test. new project was assigned today so start thinking about your response.
 
SS--Have questions #1 to 7 in the blue Mesopotamia booklet done for Monday. Start a rough draft of the Sumerian letter.

Daily Update--January 9/14

ELA--Daily reading. The students were introduced to essay writing today, and they should be thinking about what topic they will want to write about for their Outsiders essay.

Math--There was no Math today as we were dissecting sheep hearts today. Make certain yesterday's work is completed.

Science--Ask the students about the heart dissection that they performed today. They need to complete the "Fill in the Blanks" sheet from yesterday, and they have 20 minutes in class to complete their sample test. The unit test in Science will be written next week Wednesday.

Art--Tessellations project is due Tuesday with only tomorrow's class as class time. We are starting a new project on Tuesday.

8R--Science--Ask the students about the heart dissection that they performed today. They have 20 minutes in class tomorrow to complete their sample test. The unit test in Science will be written next week Wednesday.

Daily Update--January 8, 2014

Happy New Year, everyone!

I was away yesterday as I was celebrating Ukrainian Christmas with my family. I trust everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
We are in full swing again in 8T!

ELA--Unit 5 vocabulary booklet--Synonyms and Antonyms section is due tomorrow. Students should be reading, and we discussed the next IRP and its format. This will be due the first week in February, but students should get a head start on it now.

Math--6.4 in the textbook, pages 220-221, #4,5,7,and 8, and in problem format--# 12 and 16 will be due tomorrow.

Science--In the AHA booklet, students need to have the first "Fill in the Blanks" page completed for Friday. The unit test will be written next Wednesday, and the students have the checklist so they can start preparing now. They are also working on their sample tests which should be due by Friday in order to exchange with others.  We will be dissecting sheep hearts tomorrow. YAHOO!!

Art--Tessellations project is due next Tuesday.

A letter and permission slip went home today describing our field trip to MB Ag Days in Brandon. Please have the permission form returned asap, and if there are any parent volunteers interested in going, let me know. Thank you!
